Leland Scholars Program (LSP)

Leland Scholars participate in a four-week program in the summer prior to arrival on campus. This fully-funded program has a carefully crafted schedule of activities, coursework and seminars designed to facilitate the transition to Stanford. Students will enroll in a two-credit LSP course: a one-unit PWR class and either a one-unit chemistry-based problem-solving course or a pre-calculus course that will prepare them for the fall quarter. 

During the academic year, Leland Scholars will have access to additional advising and first-year seminars that sustain the community and reinforce the skills and strategies acquired during the program. Students that were not enrolled in the Leland Scholar Program are able to enroll in the LSP Seminar course.

Stanford Summer Engineering Academy (SSEA)

SSEA is a four-week summer program that welcomes a cohort of incoming freshmen to campus every August for a proactive academic and residential experience. The program is fully funded, allowing students to participate in labs, lectures, and trips on and off-campus, as well as prepare students for the upcoming freshman year. Students will be actively engaged in computer science and math classes, lab projects, as well as research fairs. SSEA aims to engage the brilliance of students that have been especially marginalized in the community of engineering, such as women, first-generation, low-income students, those are who are first in their family to pursue engineering, or those who come from environments with low exposure to the curriculum of engineering.
